Stretching the limits of control -
Review about: Black Snake Moan (2006)

Samuel L. Jackson plays the role of a retired musician who despite the adversities of life, driven by his faith tries to help a young confused Cristina Ricci overcome the scars of her past and gain self-control.
With a mix of country humor confusion and pure sock writer-director Craig Brewer creates yet a gain a film that intrigues and captivates the audience even though the somewhat predictable outcome.
Black Snake Moan is a film about control, control of one’s actions and control of one’s life and the power of our will to help others overcome their afflictions.

Amnesia with a twist -
Review about: Memento (2000)

Staring Guy Pearce as Leonard Shelby the film is about a man with a goal, finding a killer. I’m not going to get into the specifics because due to the way the story is stitched together any attempt at sketching the outlines of the movie will spoil it. What is extremely interesting is the fact that despite an accident that left him with no short memory he devises an ingenious way of keeping track of his goals and information gathered along his search. The story’s complexity is given by the somewhat unorthodox manner in which it is constructed, information keeps being thrown at you and the viewer has to sort out the relevant information to the story because due to his condition the “hero” keeps getting sidetracked every 5 minutes. Pain, love, longing, and the pursuit of vengeance are what fuel the story and its tormented “hero”

A film that will draw your attention from the first to the last minutes brilliantly put together with twist and turns that won’t let you pause for anything Memento is definitely worth viewing.

Taboo -
Review about: Thank You for Smoking (2005)

Completing the trifecta of drugs, weapons and cigarettes, Aaron Eckhart plays Nick Naylor, the charismatic lobbyist for the tobacco industry who backed up by scientists that could “disprove gravity” and an army of lawyers keep the government from messing with the tobacco industries profit margins.

The MOD squad made up by David Koechner playing Bobby Jay Bliss (lobbyist for the firearms industry), Maria Bello playing Polly Bailey (lobbyist for the Alcohol industry) and Nick Naylor meets every week in a private venue and discusses the problems faced by their industries with the intent of brainstorming new and efficient ways of ensuring they block any attempt at limiting their profits .

“The beauty of argument is that if u argue correctly you are never wrong” and Nick Naylor excels at arguing and with the biggest threat to the tobacco industry on its way his skills will be put to the test. Being exposed to more intimate affairs of the tobacco industry he is thrown into a more complicated and interesting story.

A story full of up’s and downs, tests and struggles oddly enough a story the whole family would enjoy … to some extent, that will really make you laugh and think.
