It's awfully hard to take a movie seriously when everyone is saying "noodles" all the time. And yet, this movie takes itself very seriously: all solemn speeches, cheap symbolism, and meaningful zooms. Oh, it's all well done with fine (but not brilliant) performances, an admirable attention to detail, convincing historical recreation, and a gorgeous look to it. But it left me empty and unimpressed.

Stain

Funny how so many filmmakers get so much worse after they begin to take themselves more seriously

Lounge

Great story, entirely worth the 3 hours of movie!
