If this film was half as cool as it thinks it is it might be watchable, but as things stand it just hits you with the same dull montages again and again.

I thought it was okay, actually. Not great, but okay. Other than the numerous cliches such as the undercover cop falling in love with the desireable but deadly woman of crime and the South Americans speaking English with each other, the fact that it was at least 15 minutes too long and the stupid end, it was rather exciting and an okay way to spend an evening. Good cinematography and awesome sound design.

I kept nodding off during the movie so I missed a lot of it, but whatever. I wasn't a huge fan of the show, but I watched it from time to time. I'd forgotten how weighty the show was, and the movie captured that mood fairly well. I was sort of hoping the movie would be a lot of mindless action, instead there was a lot of drama and convoluted deals and guys standing around looking cool. I also can't stand Colin Farrell.

The script is average, on a level of an epizode of an nth seson, and so is acting - especially Farrell didn't seem very credible to me. I like the realistic style of Michael Mann, neutral shots in available light, so overall I quite enjoyed it. If you prefer less intimate and more spectacular cinematography, you should probably pass on it.

KAH

Perhaps my biggest sin when it comes to "guilty pleasures". I enjoy this on a braindead level. It's cheesy and banal, its universe is very caricatured and the characters very stereotypical and flat, but it's entertainingly stupid and stylish in it's depiction of cops and robbers in Miami by night.
