a treat for the eyes
Created by the outstanding imagination of Terry Gilliam, starring Jodelle Ferland (Jeliza-Rose), Brendan Fletcher (Dickens), Jeff Bridges (Noah) and Jennifer Tilly (Queen Gunhilda). Tideland is a story about drugs, gore and insanity seen through the wondrous eyes of a child.

All the actors play their roles with incredible accuracy, and the story imagined by the acclaimed director Terry Gilliam is one that should not be missed.

I would love to go into the details of the plot that i have enjoyed every second of while watching this incredible film, but in my honest opinion it can only ruin the intense visual and audio experience that you will have while watching it yourselves.

Certainly a better statement on the resilience of children than Pan's Labyrinth, and it's funnier. Ferland is fantastic and may well have a bright career ahead of her as an adult actress. However, the situation becomes increasingly dire and bizarre to the point of absurdity. And "Alice in Wonderland" allegories are a dime a dozen. I expect something more original. Despite these flaws (and the pissy little intro) I think it's a much better film than it gets credit for.

Disturbing yet fantastic performance by Jodelle Ferland. From what I've read and seen about this film, I was expecting more done with the imagination aspect of the film, and would have felt more engaged had been that way.

Really, I have no idea why Gilliam made this movie. But I have some ideas why no one wanted to show it in theaters...

Beauty in fear, in loss, in loneliness, in madness. Affection. Love. Delicate beauty.
