Storyline

Ben Affleck (born Benjamin Géza Affleck-Boldt; August 15, 1972) is an American actor, film director, writer, and producer. He became known in the mid-1990s with his performance in the Kevin Smith films Mallrats (1995) and Chasing Amy (1997). Affleck is an Academy Award as well as a Golden Globe Award winner, along with Matt Damon, for their collaborative screenplay for the 1997 film Good Will Hunting. He established himself as a Hollywood leading man, having starred in several big budget films, such as Armageddon (1998), Pearl Harbor (2001), Changing Lanes (2002), The Sum of All Fears (2002), and Daredevil (2003).

The premise of this film is entirely too convenient, and its presentation too melodramatic. The majority of the characters receive insufficient development, and Afleck seems too busy making pained expressions to notice how flimsy his companions are. I still think Afleck is an excellent director, but he needs stronger material.

Proof that Gone wasn't a fluke. Affleck steps up for a film bigger in scope, action and excitement and only loses a little of the intimacy of his previous effort. Obviously as his career progresses we shall see if he can keep it up but through hiring Elswit and Tichenor, Affleck has assembled his own killer team and their technical achievement here is outstanding. So too is the acting, from Affleck's wounded masculinity to Jeremy Renner's explosive charisma and Jon Hamm's determined detective,
