Storyline

In the year 2054 A.D. crime is virtually eliminated from Washington D.C. thanks to an elite law enforcing squad "Precrime". They use three genetically altered humans (called "Pre-Cogs") with special powers to see into the future and predict crimes beforehand. John Anderton (Tom Cruise) heads Precrime and believes the system's flawlessness steadfastly. However one day the Pre-Cogs predict that Anderton will commit a murder himself in the next 36 hours. Worse, Anderton doesn't even know the victim. He decides to get to the mystery's core by finding out the 'minority report' which means the prediction of the female Pre-Cog Agatha (Samantha Morton) that "might" tell a different story and prove Anderton innocent.

The Director

Steven Spielberg
Steven Allan Spielberg (born December 18, 1946) is an American film director, screenwriter, film producer, video game designer and studio executive. In a career spanning five decades, Spielberg's films have covered many themes and genres. Spielberg's early science-fiction and adventure films were seen as an archetype of modern Hollywood blockbuster filmmaking. In later years, his films began addressing such issues as the Holocaust, slavery, war and terrorism. He is considered one of the most popular and influential filmmakers in the history of cinema. He is also one of the co-founders of the DreamWorks movie studio.
Spielberg won the Academy Award for Best Director for Schindler's List (1993) and Saving Private Ryan (1998). Three of Spielberg's films, Jaws (1975), E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial (1982), and Jurassic Park (1993), achieved box office records, each becoming the highest-grossing fil

a brilliant movie
Tom Cruise (John Anderton) is the chief of the Pre-Crime unit of the Washington D.C. police department. This is a unit that learns about murders before they happen and have the job to catch the murderers before they can act. One of he's finest roles in my opinion, as one of the greatest action movie actors around in one of the best movies made by the legendary Steven Spielberg.

The acting is great, the storyline is exceptional and the directing and effects are incredible, as in all of Steven Spielberg's movies. This is, by all accounts, a movie that everyone should see.

Even though I can't get over the fact that in the future they seem to ignore the idea of some thing being transmitted wirelessly, it's still fun.

The science fiction elements are very strong, although the story is a bit rough around the edges. Regardless, Cruise is convincing, and I was enthralled by the world that Spielberg is presenting.

magb

The futuristic society of Minority Report is depicted very well indeed. I also enjoyed the action sequences, and Tom Cruise -- whom I generally don't like very much -- did a good job. The movie does, however, have some well-known and much discussed plot holes, which I won't go into any specifics about here. It serves as yet more evidence that time travel (of which pre-cog could be said to be a specific variety) is nearly impossible to get to make sense.

Stain

A wildly screwed up but still engaging movie that simultaneously has too many good ideas and is too much fun to dismiss. Colin Farrell totally steals the movie

Spunkie

Let's forget about the precog, moral bullshiting, misplaced noir elements and Cruise chasing his own eyeball in the gutter after dire events screwing with the taste of auidience. These elements overseen this is a design masterpiece, not because Spielberg is a masters at design, he was smart enough to gather a group of people who could foresee near future tech. Like those hologram that only works from a certain angle and computer interfaces that have already became alive.
