A good drama, with impeccable acting and an intriguing and believable ethical quandary at its core. The film isn't as relentlessly claustrophobic as Das Boot, but that wasn't exactly what they were going for anyway. It does rely too heavily on the sort of stock scene we've seen too many times in too many films and TV shows. Tellingly, Denzel Washington's character references Star Trek multiple times, admittedly in a somewhat tongue-in-cheek fashion.
