This movie got bad reviews so I didn't bother watching it till now.

But it's the perfect complement to soda and popcorn... Empty calories a-plenty!

I'd go as far as rating it a bit better than the recent 'Conan'...

Mostly because the 'story', such as it is, is better managed. It remains essentially the same "quest for a magic dingus" and it's not going to compete with the top "sword and sorcery" movies but you should be able to kill a winter evening with it and not feel too bad about it.

Although it has it's moments nothing really gels in the film and it flits from one idea to another. The core performances come together and the best moments are the action comedy. A useful reminder of what Depp brought to Pirates of the Caribbean.
