Damn great job by Sean Penn and Emile Hirsch, as well as the supporting actors. Feels less like a movie, and more like a journey of life.

The problem with biographies is that life is a screen-writer not knowing the rules of the job, and thus the plot often lacks proper escalation of tension or turning points. This is also the case with "Into The Wild" - the whole film just slowly heads for the inevitable end, without any character evolution or change of the direction. However, the fatum leitmotif is arguably appropriate here, and the film really makes the most of the story, skillfully showing the view of both sides.
