The most heartfelt work in Smith's oeuvre, short of the abomination that is Jersey Girl, I love the crass disregard for propriety, particularly from Lee's Banky.

I can't stand Kevin Smith's writing. I hate the way his characters talk. I can see why this would appeal to someone who isn't as annoyed by those things, but unfortunately I'm not one of those people who aren't me.

Unbelievable. About ten minutes in, in the nightclub sequence, I was thinking, "I hate these characters. I hate this entire kind of person. I will hate this movie". Later, by the time Alyssa, ah, attempts to do some hitch-hiking (you know the scene, or you will), I was completely won over. Holy shit. I would have expected a touching love story from Sam Peckinpah before I would have expected one from Smith. Also features the only scene that's ever made me literally fall out of my chair laughing

Probably the strongest Smith film that I've seen so far. The acting is the weakest aspect of the film, but at least the dialogue sounds more naturalistic than it did in Clerks or Mallrats. As far as I'm concerned, this film is on a totally different plane as far as Smith films go. Zach and Miri was the only one that comes close. Under normal circumstances I would give this film 8/10, but the poor acting drags it down.
