Backdrops

The Director

Edward Zwick
Edward M. Zwick (born October 8, 1952) is an American filmmaker and film producer noted for his sprawling war films. He has been described as a "throwback to an earlier era, an extremely cerebral director whose movies consistently feature fully rounded characters, difficult moral issues, and plots that thrive on the ambiguity of authority."

Not too shabby, perhaps a little longer than it needed to be. Good battle scenes, though. Maybe my expectations were just too low.

Stain

A lot like _Dances with Wolves_, but a much better film all around

Spunkie

I got bored from hollywood use of history and cultures as exotic texture, this cannonball of a movie is no exception. Mastery of cinematography wears out after the first 15 minutes as the movie reveals its intentions.
