Storyline

Peter Parker's having a rough time. His double life as the superhero Spider-Man is having a devastating impact on his civilian life. Things are so bad he declares that he's quitting, and never putting on the suit again. However, his sense of duty forces him to become a hero again when the brilliant scientist Dr. Otto Octavius is deformed in an accident and becomes Dr. Octopus. With four metal tentacles sticking out of his back, he'll prove to be a more than worthy opponent for Spider-Man.

Hey, this is good. Smart, very well made, and entertaining. Personally I didn't need quite so much of Peter's gloomy introspection, but no biggie.

The sequel takes itself a little more seriously than the first movie, but in almost every other way it's an improvement. It's more exciting and engaging, and the special effects are notably better. The scenes of Spidey swinging his way above the streets of Manhattan are exhilirating. Parker's identity crisis plays out rather predictably, but it's sophisticated enough for the genre. But why does Doc Ock bother to rob a bank? Why doesn't he just steal the stuff he needs and cut out the middleman?

Stain

Not just better CGI but a better script than the first one

Due to embarrassingly bad writing, portions were unwatchable.
