Storyline
Years ago, a powerful Irish mafia figure placed a small selection of his youngest, brightest men into the Massachusetts Police Academy as cadets. Their purpose is to eventually rise within the prestigious ranks of the citys police department, to serve as the eyes and ears of their boss. While somewhere else, a young cadet was assigned with an equally dangerous task: infiltrate the Irish syndicate headed by the man sending in his own to the Boston Police. Now, one cadet is an up and coming police official with a torn allegiance to his job and to the criminal mastermind that put him there. While the other cadet is the trusted number two of that man, only finding his professional duties are becoming blurred with his current state. But new clues have lead to unfortunate discoveries, when both sides realize theyre being watched by the enemy. Its now all just a matter of time before the men assigned to find out whose the infiltrator, could come to a bloody end when someones identity may be revealed. |

The Director
 Martin ScorseseAmerican film director, screenwriter, producer, actor, and film historian Martin Marcantonio Luciano Scorsese made the short films while he attended New York University's film school; these include “What's a Nice Girl Like You Doing in a Place Like This?” (1963), “It's Not Just You, Murray!” (1964), and his most famous short of the period “The Big Shave” (1967). This came shortly after seriously considering entering into priesthood. He entered a seminary in 1956 then opted to direct his focus toward film; he graduated from NYU as a film major in 1964.
Scorsese made his first feature-length film in 1967, “Call First”, which was later retitled “Who's That Knocking at My Door”, which was followed by “Boxcar Bertha” (1972). The Film “Taxi Driver” (1976) won the Palme d'Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival, and received four Oscar nominations, including Best P icture, establishing Scorsese as an accomplished filmmaker operating on a highly skilled level.
Scorsese has been married five times. His first wife was Laraine Marie Brennan; they have a daughter, Catherine. He married the writer Julia Cameron in 1976; they have a daughter, Domenica Cameron-Scorsese, who is an actress and appeared in The Age of Innocence, but the marriage lasted only a year. He was married to actress Isabella Rossellini from 1979 to their divorce in 1983. He then married producer Barbara De Fina in 1985; their marriage ended in divorce as well, in 1991. He has been married to Helen Morris since 1999; they have a daughter, Francesca, who appeared in The Departed and The Aviator. He is primarily based in New York City.

First off, this is an American stylized remake of the Hong Kong hit, Infernal Affairs. I have to give credit to that, a good film. I have seen both Infernal Affairs and The Departed. I personally prefer The Departed, and I think because of one thing: Martin Scorsese. This is the master behind such greats as Taxi Diver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, and he's at it again. The film has an all star cast with Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, and Alec Baldwin.
The Direction was amazing. I loved how some of the scenes were shot and set up. Especially regarding the Chinatown, and police interrogation scenes, among many others. The film is perfectly set up with intense, suspense scenes while adding in amounts humor at times. It works really well. The script is top notch. Realistic strong dialogue from scene to scene.
Another thing I liked more in The Departed, as opposed to Infernal Affairs, was the acting. DiCaprio really seemed to earn a lot of respect from this role. I can't see anyone else as the character, he fits so perfectly with it. Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg, being Massachusetts natives, also give solid performances, with their natural accents. Nicholson works well in his role, as well. Everyone was extremely solid and everything seemed so real.
