I have watched this movie over and over. I think it captures your curiosity to keep you hanging on. Another tactic they used was a star stunning cast. It's a have to see, over and over. Sad parts in it captures people's minds, as if they have been living that kind of a life all along...association to the movie. Perfectly planned, and an emotional thrill ride.

This film is so often parodied that it is easy to forget what an excellent drama it is. The pacing in particular brings together a heart warming story about justice finding its way through the mud.

I was completely floored when I saw this movie as a child. The Shawshank Redemption is a wonderful and deep story filled with great characters.

I'm not sure why, but my appreciation of The Shawshank Redemption has dropped. I still think the big reveal with the tunnel behind the poster was a great moment, but other parts of the movie no longer appeal that much to me. It's a good movie, though.
