Storyline

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel star in director Marc Webb's wry, nonlinear romantic comedy about a man who falls head over heels for a woman who doesn't believe in love. Tom (Gordon-Levitt) is an aspiring architect who currently earns his living as a greeting card writer. Upon encountering his boss' beautiful new secretary, Summer (Deschanel), Tom discovers that the pair have plenty in common despite the fact that she's seemingly out of his league; for starters, they both love the Smiths, and they're both fans of surrealist artist Magritte. Before long Tom is smitten. All he can think about is Summer. Tom believes deeply in the concept of soul mates, and he's finally found his. Unfortunately for Tom, Summer sees true love as the stuff of fairy tales, and isn't looking for romance. Undaunted and undeterred by his breezy lover's casual stance on relationships, Tom summons all of his might and courage to pursue Summer and convince her that their love is real.

The Beautiful Days of Summer
Everyone loves summer. It's a time for friends, family, and fun. Baseball games, barbecues, amusement parks, and movies, summer is just a time to sit back, relax and enjoy. It's a time to enjoy time off, good weather and whatever else it might bring. Am I missing something? Oh yes, love. Summer is a time for love.

The film's idea can be pretty much summed up in one of the first lines of the film. "This is a story of boy meets girl. But you should know up front, this is not a love story." But is it? 500 Days of Summer is not your typical romantic film. There's something to it, something more than your usual romantic comedy. Maybe it's the style it's done? Maybe it's the realistic nature? Maybe it's the wonderful music? Maybe its the beautiful cinematography? Maybe, its Tom and Summer...

Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Zooey Deschanel are the leads, Tom and Summer. These are real everyday people. Tom, a believer in true love. Summer, a doubter. Which reminds me of one particular scene where Summer questions Tom about believing in love. Tom replies, "It's love, it's not Santa Claus." It is a real thing, a crazy little thing called love. Tom falls in love with Summer from the start. She doesn't. Tom is like every other guy, and every guy knows of a girl like Summer. The girl they want, but can't have. They try, to no avail. It's frustrating, and Tom is frustrated. He's happy then sad. He doesn't know what to think. Gordon-Levitt and Deschanel have great chemistry together and give solid performances. You really believe...

Otra película del género hombre-moderno-sufre-por-amor. Tiene más gracia que sus equivalentes sobre el sexo femenino, aunque el hecho que la fórmula se empiece a repetir le quita un poco el mérito.

In a sea of postmodern romances, it's in the middle of the pack. The filmmakers seem to want it both ways, painting a relationship as a series of anecdotes and shared interests, and then bursting that bubble. I mostly felt like it didn't have much of a message. It seemed more like a bag of clever tricks and shiny objects, and didn't feel new or original at all. It was enjoyable enough to watch, I just don't think much of it will stick with me for long.

Stain

Not cute or funny. Shallow and annoying. It doesn't help that all the characters have wretched tastes in music. I walked out right after the part where Whatisface and Summer try something in the shower that they just saw in the X-rated movie; you never want to try to fuck anyone in the shower, no matter how cute they are, as the water tends to wash away all lubricants, natural and otherwise. That's just beginning to describe how dumb this movie really is

I found the beginning 20 or 30 minutes, basically the beginning of the love story, incredibly awkward and hard to watch. In a bad way. When things began to get more ugly and heart-wrenching was when I really started to enjoy the movie. What does that say about me? My one major complaint is this. No man talks to his friends like that. Nobody says exactly what they're feeling all the time. That kind of relationship is a fantasy, and it really annoyed me. Otherwise I enjoyed the movie.

Not nearly as good as it's made out to be, but decent. It claims to be avoiding the rom-com movie cliches, but it eventually devolves into nearly all of them. It's rather unsubtle in many respects, and the direction is weak in spots. The referential and allusive tone is amusing at times, but just as often misses the mark. Nonetheless, there are enough laughs to make it pretty watchable.
