Storyline

Chic socialite Melanie Daniels enjoys a passing flirtation with an eligible attorney in a San Francisco pet shop and, on an impulse, follows him to his hometown bearing a gift of lovebirds. But upon her arrival, the bird population runs amok. Suddenly, the townsfolk face a massive avian onslaught, with the feathered fiends inexplicably attacking people all over Bodega Bay.

The Director

Alfred Hitchcock
Sir Alfred Joseph Hitchcock, KBE (13 August 1899 – 29 April 1980) was an Anglo-American director and producer. He pioneered many techniques in the suspense and psychological thriller genres. After a successful career in his native United Kingdom in both silent films and early talkies, Hitchcock moved to Hollywood. In 1956 he became an American citizen while remaining a British subject.

Over a career spanning more than half a century, Hitchcock fashioned for himself a distinctive and recognizable directorial style. He pioneered the use of a camera made to move in a way that mimics a person's gaze, forcing viewers to engage in a form of voyeurism. He framed shots to maximize anxiety, fear, or empathy, and used innovative film editing. His stories frequently feature fugitives on the run from the law alongside "icy blonde" female characters. Many of Hitchcock's films have twist endings

Hitchcock's most dated movie. The bird attack scenes come off as rather cartoony and destroy some of the tension the rest of the movie manages to build. I also found the end to be underwhelming. Other than those issues The Birds is a good movie, but in my book it ranks far below his best work.

FitFortDanga

Hitch's most enigmatic film. In every other movie, the enemy is human, and the mystery always has an explanation. It's the sense of the unknown which makes The Birds so terrifying. They can't be stopped or reasoned with, you can't find their psychological weakness or track down the evidence to put them away. The premise is a bit silly and the effects now look dated, but it's still thrilling. Rod Taylor is stiff as a board, but Tippi Hedren is wonderful.

Stain

Total sadistic bastard of a thriller from The Master

Spunkie

Gosh, he really threw thousands of birds down the ceiling, where is the animal rights! Essential and basic thriller from the time when it was possible to make these kind of movies.
