Francessca is betrothed to Paprizzio who thinks Casanova is the feminist writer Guardi, who is really Francesscas nomme de plume. Amidst all these secret identities and misunderstandings, the Catholic Church sends Pucci to bring Casanova and Guardi to trial for heresy.
