nothing extraordinary...
I went to this movie with the upmost confidence that I will leave it amazed. Johnny Depp (Mad Hatter) and Helena Bonham Carter (Red Queen) alone should of made a wonderful story like Alice in Wonderland come to life.

Unfortunately that was not the case. The actors wore perfect for the roles in my opinion, but the movie itself left much to be desired. This is not a movie that will blow your mind with effects and a complex story, quite the contrary.. it's a movie with a simplistic story and the action is mostly formed of walking and talking.

But don't get me wrong, it was a good movie. One well worth watching if you enjoy the fantasy/family genres, but do not make the mistake I've made by going to see it while expecting a masterpiece.

Somewhat confusing for a non-native speaker like myself, where the advantage of the book is that you choose the pace yourself. (and I love the book)

Decently charming 3d-animations, actually. Not good or great, but decent.
Too bad they went from one monarchy to 'a good monarchy' (get rid of the leader already and go for anarchism!) and great that the queen had sworn not to harm any living creature, ie. she's a vegan.

santoposmoderno

No convence a nadie.

Spunkie

What did the early Burton movies have in common, were they deep or complex? I guess not, but they had a real appreciation for the strange and bizarre with rich textures, imaginative details. And they managed to investigate the nature of coping with difference. This postmodern modification of the century old story only has a figment of those qualities, even the plasticised aesthetics is artificial. I think Burton had consumed too much of the pill that makes him small and minor.

Stain

Well, it's better than the X-rated version, anyway

A princess in shining armor kills the dragon, saves the kingdom and dumps the prince. Pretty? Pretty. Interesting? Not so much.
